The app PalEat's riders work from. They go online, get offered nearby jobs with the pay and the distance shown up front, and follow four clear steps from the shop to the customer. Earnings, a wallet and a busy-areas heatmap are built in. One app, on iOS and Android.

What it does
What it does, feature by feature
- Online and offline, with today's earnings and deliveries at the top
- Job offers with earnings, distance to pickup and distance to customer
- Four staged screens: arrive at the shop, pick up, arrive at the customer, drop off
- Wallet with balance, withdrawals and history

The challenge
Riders work on cheap Android phones, outdoors, with one hand, in the sun. Every screen has to be readable in a glance, the alert has to wake a locked phone, and the app has to keep sending its location without draining the battery.
What we did
We designed a dark, high-contrast interface with big targets and one action per screen. Job offers show the earnings and both distances before the rider accepts. Location goes to the server every ten metres in the background. A full-screen alert with a ringtone breaks through the lock screen. The whole app is Arabic and English.
The outcome
Captain Volt is the app every PalEat order is delivered with. It handles restaurant orders and parcel jobs in one flow and has shipped seventeen releases since launch.
